Column: Trump will actually make America great again

Election day has come and gone as we now have a non-politician, Donald Trump, who will be entering the White House after a landslide victory over Hillary Clinton. Finally, the American people will see change coming to Washington D.C with President-Elect Trump. Although brighter days are ahead for America, the change will not come easy with the poor state that our country will be left in.

During Obama’s presidency, we have seen our military and veterans not getting their proper care or respect. The men and women who protect and serve our communities have targets on their backs. The so-called Affordable Care Act or ObamaCare is not affordable. ISIS and other terrorist groups are continuing to take over the Middle East. Illegal immigrants are flooding across our borders, some dangerous criminals. The economy is continuing to fall as we are now nine trillion dollars more in debt. The workforce is depleting with over 94 million Americans out of it, up 14 million from Obama’s inauguration. President-Elect Trump has vowed to do the important things that President Obama has so poorly executed.

Trump has said that he will repeal and replace ObamaCare with something much more efficient and better. No one would be left without health care in the transition because he would repeal ObamaCare while implementing his new and improved healthcare simultaneously. Sure, ObamaCare has helped cover millions of Americans but it has not come at an easy cost. For example, premiums in Arizona are up 116%; Oklahoma’s premiums are up 76%; Minnesota’s have gone up around 50% to 67%; Tennessee’s have risen from 44% to 62%. Healthcare must be affordable without raising the taxes in all these places.

Our military has been depleted, which is also desperately hurting our country. During Obama’s reign as President, U.S. military spending has gone down nearly $150 billion. They are not getting the proper care that they need to fight against terrorism. Most importantly, our veterans who fight for our freedom are getting no respect. Just recently, the Obama administration forced thousands of soldiers to repay their $100,000 enlistment bonuses from those who fought in Afghanistan. President-Electure Trump has said that he will increase the military spending perhaps as much as $100 billion annually.

Perhaps the one that hits home the hardest is the target that police officers have on their backs. Some of these men and women have been accused of killing blacks or other minority groups just because of the color. That couldn’t be more wrong. No matter your race, gender, sexuality, or religion those officers are always there to protect you. Police officers have been torn down by the group Black Lives Matter.

While this is a group who is somewhat peaceful and is fighting for justice, it has brought about violence. The members have protested with slogans like, “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!” and “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon.” What has Obama done? He has invited this group that has called for dead cops to the White House. All lives do matter and that definitely includes black Americans but that also includes the men and women who wear blue. Our country is racially divided but Obama has done absolutely nothing to help that matter. Donald Trump will strie to unify our country.

America has nowhere to go but up following a troubling stint from President Obama. Donald Trump’s America will fight for the liberties and constitutional freedoms that this country was founded on.
