The Ole Miss Rebels football team has started the 2023 season. The team opened up the year at #22 in AP rankings. So far, they have started off the season at 2-0 after the first two weeks.

In Week 1, Ole Miss began their season with the home opener against the Mercer Bears. The offense would get off to a hot start scoring a quick touchdown in the first minute of the game. Although Mercer would respond back with a touchdown on the following possession, the Rebels would keep their foot on the gas and score 67 unanswered points behind a record breaking performance from Tre Harris. The senior wide receiver would become the first player in team history to record 4 touchdowns in a single game. He also scored 3 of those touchdowns in the first three minutes of the game.

In Week 2, the #20 Rebels (1-0) would travel to New Orleans to take on #24 Tulane Green Wave (1-0). Although Tulane would be without their starting quarterback, they would still cause trouble for the Rebels. Ole Miss would score a touchdown on the opening possession but would then be shut out for the rest of the first half. Tulane would lead at halftime by a score of 17-7. In the second half, the Rebels exploded by outscoring the Green Wave by 27-3. Senior kicker Caden Davis had a player of the game performance going 3/3 on field goals and 4/4 on PATs with a huge field goal from 56 yards out. This performance earned him SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

For Week 3, the #17 Ole Miss Rebels (2-0) will host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-1). These two teams will finish out their home-and-home series in which the Rebels did travel to Atlanta last year, defeating the Yellow Jackets 42-0. The Rebels open up as 20 point favorites this week at home. The top headline surrounding the team heading into this week is the status of star wide receiver Tre Harris, who left last week’s game in New Orleans with an undisclosed reason. One of the biggest questions looming for the Rebels throughout the year is how much better can the offensive line be for star running back Quinshon Judkins.

Week 3 Prediction: Ole Miss Rebels 37, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 14

Current Team Leaders:

QB Jaxson Dart: 35/50 comp., 601 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT

RB Quinshon Judkins: 31 carries, 108 yards, 3 TDs

WR Tre Harris: 8 receptions, 188 yards, 5 TDs
