The Ole Miss football team opens up the season with a three-game winning streak with wins against Mercer, Tulane, and Georgia Tech. The Rebels climbed 2 spots and are now ranked at #15 heading into Week 4.
In Week 3, Ole Miss hosted the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Last year, Ole Miss shut out the Yellow Jackets on the road, 42-0.
The Rebels would get off to a good start, scoring a field goal on the opening drive. Later in the quarter, the Rebels would score a touchdown later in the drive after blocking a Yellow Jackets field goal attempt, making it 10-0 in favor of the home team at the end of the first. The offense would go quiet in the second quarter, by not scoring any points. Georgia Tech would convert on a 22-yard field goal late, in which the Rebels would lead 10-3 at halftime.
Ole Miss would come out hot after the half, scoring two touchdowns on back-to-back drives to give them a 24-10 lead in the third quarter. Georgia Tech would open up the high-scoring fourth quarter with a touchdown drive to cut the deficit to 7. The Rebel offense would then go on a 24-6 scoring run to end the game, defeating the Yellow Jackets by a score of 48-23.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart is no doubt the MVP of the team so far to start the season. He would add to his season total by accounting for 251 passing yards to go along with 136 rushing yards and 3 total touchdowns.
For Week 4, #15 Ole Miss Rebels (3-0) will travel on the road to Tuscaloosa to play #13 Alabama Crimson Tide (2-1). The Crimson Tide have opened up as 6.5-point favorites at home. The biggest question for the Rebels is how healthy can they get before next week’s game. Ole Miss was without star wide receiver Tre Harris, but the running back room is also a little banged up. All three running backs each had a rushing touchdown against Georgia Tech. On the other side of the field, the Crimson Tide will look to solve their quarterback struggles after playing three different quarterbacks this season.
Week Four Prediction: Ole Miss Rebels 35, Alabama Crimson Tide 27.
