Hemmins to study at Dartmouth University for college
Scarlet Hemmins is a 17-year-old senior at Oxford High School. She was accepted into Dartmouth College, which is known for having exceptional liberal arts programs. Hemmins’ older sister, Lily Hemmins, is currently a senior at Dartmouth, who had a large influence on her decision. She attributes some of her success of being accepted into the Ivy League university to taking advice from others during her application process.
“I’m both excited and nervous about moving really far,” Hemmins said. “I’m going to miss my family, but I’m ready to explore a new landscape. I think that socially things will be very different, and that scares me a little. I’m very grateful to attend a place where I can get an elite education. Even without a degree, I would still attend because you can learn so much at a school like Dartmouth.”
Frugé to begin college at Harvard University in the fall
Charlie Frugé is an 18-year-old senior at Oxford High School. He has been accepted to Harvard University, most known for having top-notch law and business programs. His goal is graduate with a degree in Government or Economics from there. Frugé attributes his success of being accepted into the prestigious Ivy League university to his parents hard work and being a risk-taker. The soon-to-be-graduate decided to attend Harvard for schooling because of the community and the hope that this college will push him as a scholar.
“I’m most excited to meet a whole group of incredible people in a brand new place,” Frugé said. “Harvard is a mecca in higher education, and I can’t wait to be in that environment. I’m sad to leave my family and hometown for a little bit, but I will hopefully come back to Mississippi in the future.”
