Central Elementary School’s PTO Co-President and mother of two children, Jill Stevens, has been named the Oxford School District Parent of The Year. This honor meant so much to Stevens and she emphasized it is not just her but a entire community who helps the district.
“I am just one in the whole bunch of wonderful adults who help out in our school district,” Stevens said. “It takes a community to create a district as strong as ours.”
Stevens is involved in many activities, including Charger Christmas Kids, Love Packs, and substitute teaching in her free time.
“If I could shed any light on an area where someone was looking to be involved and you have got some time I would say get in there and substitute,” Stevens said. “There is no better way than to truly get to know who this district is and the heart behind what our teachers do everyday.”
Growing up in a family of educators made her realize how important parent and community involvement is.
“I got to see on the homefront how incredibly important parent involvement and community involvement is but also now as a parent,” Stevens said.
