OHS held its 2016 National Signing Day on Wednesday. Beginning at 3 p.m. in the OHS gym, eight senior athletes took part in the annual tradition of signing their NCAA Letters of Intent to compete at the college level in the fall.

The eight athletes were:

* Jack Abraham, quarterback, Louisiana Tech University football

* Zach Cousar, Tight End, Louisiana Tech University football

* Tag Gatlin, Offensive Lineman, Mississippi College football

* Korbin Harmon, Defensive End, Ole Miss football

* DK Metcalf, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss football

* Jacquez Neilson, Defensive Lineman, Itawamba Community College football

* Kenzie Phillips, Running Back, Northwest Mississippi Community College football

* Zoe Scruggs, Center Midfielder, Delta State University football

  • National Signing Day Signees

  • Wide Receiver DK Metcalf signed with Ole Miss. In his career, the All-American caught a school record of 224 passes for 3,302 yards, and 49 touchdowns; he also picked off five passes. As a senior, Metcalf was named a MaxPreps All-American, Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen selection, in addition to the Mississippi Association of Coaches 5A Athlete of the Year.

  • Quarterback Jack Abraham, a Louisiana Tech football signee, passed for a school record 12,021 yards. and 130 touchdowns. He received MaxPreps All-American, Southern Elite Sports 2015 Mr. Elite, Mississippi Association of Coaches 5A Overall MVP, the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year, and Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen honors.

  • Defensive lineman Jacquez Neilson, an Itawamba Community College signee, registered 40 total tackles, four tackles for a loss and one sack during his career. He was also named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches 5A All-State team.

  • Running Back Kenzie Phillips, a Northeast Mississippi Community College signee, rushed for 3,462 yards and 56 touchdowns. He set the single-season rushing record in 2014 with 1,782 yards.

  • Defensive end Korbin Harmon, an Ole Miss commitment, registered 249 total tackles, 14 1/2 sacks, and four fumbles recorded in his career.

  • Offensive linemen Tag Gatlin, a Mississippi College football signee, help paved the single-season rushing, passing and receiving record holders on the team.

  • Tight end Zach Cousar, a Louisiana Tech football signee, caught 99 passes for 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns during his career. He was named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches 5A All-State team.

  • Zoe Scruggs, a Delta State signee and OHS team captain the last three seasons, has scored 45 goals and assisted on 50 more in her career, which began as a seventh grader. She was a Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star selection this season.
