Browns make right decision with Hunt, deserves second chance

Kareem Hunt, former NFL running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, was cut by the team last season after a video surfaced of him kicking a 19–year–old woman. On Monday, Feb. 11, he got a second chance as he was signed to a one–year contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Hunt, who played college football at Toledo, was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was selected for the Pro Bowl the season before he got cut.

Many people believe Hunt should not be able to play in the NFL again after the huge mistake he made, because Hunt apologized many times and has talked about it openly. He has made it very clear that what he did was one of the worst things he has ever done.

“I want to apologize for my actions, I deeply regret what I did I hope to move on from this,” Hunt said in an interview with TMZ.

Hunt was never arrested and the woman reported him but did not press charges. After the incident happened the women stood at Hunt’s hotel room and banged on the door for approximately thirty minutes.

Hunt did lie to the Chiefs when they asked him about what happened. After talking with him, the organization asked the hotel to look at the video tape and after reviewing the tape they cut Hunt immediately.

Hunt should be able to play again. He was not like the other players who were cut from the team, because those players were bad in general. They were pleaded guilty for harassing the women. The fact that she did not press charges should be pointed out. They should leave it in the past just like the woman did. Other players were cut because they are just are not good enough to “play pro.” On the other hand,  Hunt is good enough to play at pro level.

Now is the time for Hunt to show the world he is worth playing for an NFL team and for him to be on his best behavior. If he messes up again, Hunt will probably not be able to play in the NFL. Many great players that could’ve been Hall of Famers have gotten in trouble and have been not able to get another chance. Hunt is one of the few who did get one and hopefully he does not take it for granted.
